Crispy Battered Prawn

Made easy using fried seafood powder — perfect for party platters, or kids’ favourite crunchy bites.

Ingredients
  • 250g prawns (peeled, deveined, tail on optional)
  • 4 tbsp fried seafood powder
  • 2–3 tbsp cold water
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Optional (for extra flavour):

    • Pinch of white pepper

    • Pinch of paprika or chilli powder


Instructions
  1. Prepare prawns
  2. Pat prawns dry using kitchen towel. This helps the batter stick better.
  3. Make batter
  4. In a bowl, mix fried seafood powder with cold water until smooth.
  5. The batter should be slightly thick but still able to coat prawns.
  6. Heat oil
  7. Heat oil in a pan or wok over medium heat until hot (around 170–180°C).
  8. Coat prawns
  9. Dip prawns into batter, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  10. Deep fry
  11. Fry prawns for 2–3 minutes until golden and crispy.
  12. Remove and drain excess oil.
  13. Serve immediately
  14. Best enjoyed hot and crispy.

Tips
• Use cold water for crispier batter
• 
Do not overcrowd pan while frying
• 
Serve immediately for maximum crispiness
